Our story
Rick and Kathy Wyffels started planting Christmas
trees in 1993 on Rick's parents' farm by the Rock
River. Rick grew up on the farm raising cows and pigs. Eventually Rick's parents pastured horses for the Quad City Downs. After the race track closed, Rick's dad told Rick he could do something with the fields if he wanted. When Rick told his dad he wanted to start a Christmas tree farm, his dad said, "Get the plow out".
Rick and Kathy, both teachers, thought a Christmas tree farm would work well with their schedules, and hoped to eventually help pay for their childrens' college education.
Kurt, Stephanie, and Alissa all graduated from college debt free.
